International French Tennis Tournaments

1891 saw the creation of the now world famous French tennis championship by the Union of Athletic Sports Societies. It first took place in Paris on the Racing Club`s clay courts.
Roland Garros stadium, where the tournament host, is made an openning in 1928 for Coupe Davis requirement.
Roland Garros is the first of the 4 Grand Chelem tournaments to become "open" in 1968, it means, open for the professionals and amateurs.

The edition 2007 of the internationnal French Tennis will take place at Roland Garros since 27 of May until 10 of June.Rolang Garros is a French championship wich takes place each years in Paris, Porte d`Auteuil.

It`s the one of the fourfth Grand Chelem`s tournements, with Wimbledon, l`US Open and l`Open d`Australie.
In the English world this tournament is called French Open.
Roland Garros is the one of the biggest tournament of the season, and the most prestigious of the Grand Chelem. Consider like the most important and difficult challenging tournament, requiring a very good physical condition (a match opposing Fabrice Santorro to Arnaud Clement have ended at the end of a 6h30 play) Roland Garros reveals each year a kind of the clay courts...

The tournament takes places on clay courts, in three 5 sets parts for men, and three sets for women.
For the first time in the story of this tournament, the winners will win the same amount as 940 000 Euros.
It`s the most important subsidy offered since the beginning of the Grand Chelem. For the finalists, men will win 470 000Euros whereas women 463 000Euros...
