  Exhibition Road Music Day 2007

 at the Institut français

This is the third edition of Exhibition Road Music Day, London's home of international Fête de la Musique, a one day of free music taking place on Thursday 21st June in and around the Cultural and Learning Quarter of Exhibition Road in South Kensington, with over 100 free performances in all genres. Visit www.exhibitionroadmusicday.org for full programme.

Below, the Institut français' programme, with this year an amazing line-up: highlights include Emilie Simon, Moussu T e lei Jovents and Sporto Kantes.

Institut français' line-up:

Live @ the Terrace, Language Centre 1-5pm
A selection of inspiring artists will perform all afternoon in this lovely outdoor venue:
* Laure Chan - Violin/Classical - 1pm
* Axel and the Farmers - Pop - 1.30pm
* Isobel Anderson - Pop - 2.15pm
* Mark Mulholland - Acoustic Rock n roll - 3pm
* Annie B - Soul/Blues - 3.45pm

Djs & live @ the Bistrot/courtyard 4pm-midnight:

Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere created by our fine selection of Djs who will share turntables for a wide range of music styles from Tango to Detroit Techno, with anything from chanson, jazz to soul in between. Alternate sets by Ludo & David (Rockfort – Resonance fm), Sonovabaker, DJ Lo and more...
At 5pm, Pernod Ricard will offer a free glass of Pastis on a first come, first served basis.
At 5.30pm the Norwich Samba will launch the barbecue in the courtyard.

Live @ Ciné lumière 5-11pm

    * The Festival de Valloires presents Alexandra Dariescu – Piano/classical - 5pm

    * Cine concert by Sporto Kantes – Electro/Dub - 6pm Inventive duo Sporto Kantes perform their electro dub soundtrack with live saxophone to Protazanov’s 1924 sci-fi classic Aelita.

    * Moussu T e lei Jovents – World - 8pm Marseilles' folk-pop troubadours are back in London! The band’s songs are idiosyncratic vignettes of Marseilles life and Occitan culture; catchy ditties that gloriously evoke the unique character of France’s second city.

    * Emilie Simon - Chanson/Pop/Electro - 9.30pm Veritable sonic fairytale, Emilie Simon’s universe is made of intimate, vaporous, and aquatic melodies. Together the songs build the framework of a story, worshipping the natural and the surrealist, both contemplative and ephemeral.

Workshops/conference @ Petite Salle

* Occitan : past, present, futur – conference - 4.30pm - Petite Salle
* Singing workshop led by the Can't Sing Choir from Morley College – 6pm - Petite Salle

All performances free; no advance booking (except when otherwise stated). School workshops reserved for school parties only. Events subject to capacity limitations; admission on a first come first served basis.
