Petite école kentoise
Entirely parent-run, our charity is the brainchild of Kent-based French parents of bilingual and multilingual children. The aim of the charity is to pass on the parents’ mother tongue and culture to the next generation of their family, by providing a saturday morning French school, a French library and other French activities. But we’re by no means a French-only-club: some of our parents are Belgians, Swiss or even Britons who, having lived in one of the French-speaking countries for a few years, would like to give their children the opportunity to practice the language they’d had such a hard time learning! What they all have in common are children who attend English schools and who are encouraged to speak French at home. Two schools in Harrietsham and Hildenborough.
Every Saturday morning: French library: the library is a great resource for children seeking to develop their knowledge of the French language, whether as a first or second language, and for French language teachers seeking a variety of resources for their classes.
Saturday 8th November 2008 – Opening of a French Library – Harrietsham –
Saturday 6th December 2008 – Fête de la St Nicolas with La Petite Ecole Kentoise – Harrietsham –
Saturday 10th January 2009 6.30pm: medieval banquet in Nettlestead
The children of Petite Ecole Kentoise will entertain the French-speaking community with songs and dances throughout the banquet.
