Angélique Kitsch Party at the French Institute: "From la Cour des Miracles to Versailles"

20/05/2011 from 18:00 to 23:59

There isn't one woman in the world who hasn't dreamed of being Angélique...There isn't one man in the world who hasn't dreamed of Angélique...

Angélique (Michèle Mercier), a beautiful, penniless noblewoman, is forced to marry the ugly and fiery Jeoffrey de Peyrac (Robert Hossein). Despite his unattractive appearance, she falls in love with him. They live happily in their château until the day the king visits them. Enchanted by Angélique's beauty, Louis XIV is determined to make her his mistress.

Jeoffrey and Angélique... At the end of the 60's, their love story littered with traps would stir French hearts throughout the five films adapted from the highly successful novels by Anne and Serge Golon. Weaving charm, suspense, and history into an epic with a dash of discreet eroticism, Angélique remains a cult film to this day. Angélique, marquise des anges is the first part of this epic saga directed by Bernard Borderie. Newcomers to the saga as well as fans can find all the other episodes on DVD at the Médiathèque.
