Concert - Pergolesi's sabat mater

28/02/2015 from 19:30 to 21:30

On 28th February, Judith Charron (Soprano) and Bérengère Mauduit (Mezzo-soprano) will perform Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. They will be accompanied by Premiere String Quartet and Les Fauristes Chamber Choir.

Composed in 1736, the Stabat Mater is the last of Pergolesi's works: while he was only 27 years old, the young composer wrote it two months before dying of Tuberculosis. A premature death, an enduringly moving masterpiece: the Stabat Mater poignantly describes the unbearable sufferings of a mother losing her son, and more universally the pain and loneliness after losing a loved one.

The first part of the concert will feature works by Vivaldi, with the famous "Winter" from Four Seasons, and cantatas extracts for Soprano and Mezzo-Soprano.

Judith Charron and Bérengère Mauduit are French lyrical singers living in London. They perform a wide range of solo recitals, operatic roles and oratorios.

Concert in aid of RoadWorks Media.
