Oise - Total Immersion Experience

Oise
Oise

The sole aim of their courses is to give the younger learner (7-17) a head start in life by encouraging them to achieve an advanced level of linguistic competence beyond their school needs and as a great asset for the future.

Rather than offering the classic language "holiday", they run intensive courses for ambitious students. Classes are limited to a maximum of 8 ensuring that all pupils receive the benefit of individual attention within a group dynamic, and students can undertake up to 30 hours of tuition per week, a figure more commonly associated with adult and executive courses.

They have found that, with the help and guidance of their highly motivated and experienced teachers, their young learners are able to make exceptional progress in both their language level and their confidence.

They understand that different students have different needs. Because of this, your experience with OISE begins from the moment you pick up the phone to speak to one of their team members.

Oise - Small Group Teaching
OIse - Small Group Teaching
By learning about you as an individual and why you need to improve your English, they can find you the right course (Full Study Programme, Extended Programme, IELTS Preparation, Cambridge Preparation, English for Children) in the right location (from vibrant cities such as Oxford to picturesque rural locations).

Whether on a residential programme or accommodated with one of their lovely host families, this is a total immersion experience. Last but certainly not least, hard working pupils need to relax, so they incorporate a full programme of sports, social activities and excursions, encouraging their pupils to make friends and enjoy themselves as much as possible. To summarise, whatever the motivation is for you wanting to improve your English, they will drive you to achieve the results you want and need.

Mill on the Brue - Outdoor Activity Centre

Round the Camp Fire
Round the Camp Fire
Founded in 1982 this is a second generation family run Centre in beautiful Somerset, in the West Country. Set in 20 acres of fields, woods and river valley the children stay in the Victorian farmhouse or adjacent buildings. Taking only 60 residential children at a time they are never overwhelmed by large numbers and placed in small groups with a maximum of 12 children they are able to be immersed in the English language.

‘Mill on the Brue has become very popular with children and parents from abroad’ says Tricia Rawlingson Plant, founder with her husband, of the Centre, ‘It is because we can take such individual care of each child, and also because we discourage large groups of children from abroad coming all together – we try to spread them out across the holidays. This way foreign children will be with English children and their Instructors all day and will pick up so much English throughout their stay’.  However English language lessons can also be arranged and are taken by experienced TEFL teachers, normally on a one to one basis.

If the parents wish, Mill on the Brue can arrange for a child to go to an English family for a week or two, after they have been at the camp; these families are known to the Rawlingson Plants and will have children of the same age – again an informal way of being immersed in the language while they play and go on outings.

Girl at the Camp
Girl at the Camp
As well as being a small centre it is very professional and has a wide range of over 40 fun and exciting activities which keep the children busy and enthusiastic all day; these range from canoeing, rafting, high ropes, climbing, camping, archery, bush craft (learning how to build a shelter, purify water, light fires, cook in the wild), trekking, zip wire, to command tasks, tunnelling,  feeding the animals, crafts, drama, and games. If there is a birthday, they provide a cake at no extra charge, and if they stay for 2 weeks their laundry is also done free of charge.

There is a strong environmental emphasis at the Centre which holds the Gold Business Sustainable Tourism Award (only Centre in the UK) and the children are encouraged to recycle and learn more about the countryside. They even have their own organic vegetable and fruit gardens and the meals are all home cooked and delicious with great care taken of them. They can also arrange collection from main airports and operate a rail escort from Paddington to Somerset every week during the holidays to spare parents the tedious and crowded road journey.

Capacity 60 residential aged 8 – 15 years.

Cost for residential holidays are £506 per week full board and all activities with discounts for second children or those who come for a second year. There are no hidden extra charges.

There is also a Day Camps for 7 – 15 year-old from 8.30am – 5.30pm
£265 per week including drinks and lunch.

Hi, for a great day camp in French you could look at French and Music Ensemble, a creative music camp in French for 8 to 12 year olds. Activities consist of ensemble playing, singing in French, rhythmology drumming, tailor-made French classes in small groups. Music teachers will come from Paris. Up to 18 children. Open to all levels of music and French language.
From the 22-26 August 2016.

Hi,

Last year my son attended a Nike Tennis & English Camp and loved it. It's a perfect camp for children who want to play sport in the summer, as well as improving their English. He met lots of friends from different nationalities which was really great too! http://www.cmtlearning.com/tennis

Hope this helps anyone looking for a camp!

Hi there,

My partner has her son coming to stay in London for the school holidays and we would like to find out if there are any centres for day camp for french children in central london.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. It would be great for him to have other french children to play with.

Dear Danielle,
I run fun art classes based on storytelling and narratives. Have a look at my website: http://ateliermaito.tumblr.com/
The workshops are run at the child's home so far, as I am still looking for a permanent location. Courses can be tailored for up to 5 kids.
all the best,

Good Mroning,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a social group in London for English children wanting to improve their french speaking.
My daughter is 6 years old and has French lessons but we would ideally like to go to a club where she can have a general fun converstaion whilst playing.

I have seen numerous adult social groups but cannot find any for children.

I really appreciate any advice / help.

Danielle :0)
